Indiana and other anti-choice states: why do women still live there?

31 Mar

Is anyone else tired of all these backward redneck states enacting all these creepy anti-abortion laws?  I’m not! Why? I don’t live there. I escaped the Small Midwestern Town as a teen and have never looked back.

In the latest incarnation of demons-run-amok, Indiana won the weekly Dickweed Woman-Hating Bill of a State Legislature Award and decided to outlaw any abortions after 20 weeks, NO exception for rape or incest. From Jezebel:

It’s not just that Rep. Eric Turner said earlier this week that a rape and incest exception to his new bill banning most abortions after twenty weeks would be a “giant loophole” which could mean that “someone who is desirous of an abortion could simply say that they’ve been raped or there’s incest.” (To be fair, he said “I want to be very careful, I don’t want to disparage in any way someone who’s gone through the experience of a rape, or an incest.” He just wants to disparage any lying, baby-killing bitches.) It’s also that said rape and incest exception was voted down, 54-42.

So here’s my new plan. I love this plan, and I talk about it every time I’m drunk. Women should just move out of these states.

No? But come on, all the homos move to the coasts. If ladies actually were the smarter sex, they’d do the same. We annoying progressives could then focus on protecting reproductive healthcare access for people who actually give a shit about it and not just the people who we are busily trying to convince they’re retarded misogynists. That move accomplished, we can focus on building the wall that we will need to protect ourselves when all the GOP values voters from the center of the country finally run out of sanctimonious hypocrisy to feed their 11 children every day and come for the coastal states. That will be fun.

Anyone who gets tired of reading about these stupid middle of the country anti-choice laws and other asshat laws limiting all sorts of other choices (like, access to Medicaid or food stamps) has thought about this and …wondered. Anyone who has actually lived in the Midwest or the South or anywhere that values voters control majority voting blocs has thought about this and wonders why it hasn’t happened already.
