Newsflash: Catholics were already ignoring the Pope about birth control

14 Apr

Per yesterday’s revelation that the Catholic Church accidentally authorized the use of artificial contraception for Italian readers, a timely Guttmacher Institute study just released points out that most Catholics had already telepathically figured out that’s what the Pope had in mind.

The report, based on a government survey of more than 7000 women, ages 15 to 44 was conducted between 2006 and 2008.

Researchers found 69 percent of sexually active women from any [religious] denomination were using highly effective birth control methods.

They included pills, sterilization and intrauterine devices.

Another key finding was that 68 percent of Catholics use one of those highly effective methods — while only 2 percent rely on natural family planning.

(Bolding mine.)

Haha! Oh well, I think the Church understands no one actually takes them seriously about birth control anymore. If God hadn’t wanted technology to improve the lives of humans, He never would have given the Pope a YouTube account.
