Study: women still attracted to shameful assholes

25 May

Dominique Strauss-Kahn’s lawyers just got a present for their “it was consensual sex, come on” defense.

From the American Psychological Association journal:

Women find happy men less sexually attractive than those with expressions that show pride or hint that they have done wrong and know it, according to Canadian researchers.

The researchers admit they are not sure why men and women reacted differently to smiles. In a man, a big smile may make him appear too feminine or more desperate for sex.

The study also adds fuel to the notion that women are attracted to bad boys.

Brooding douchebags filled with shame are irresistible to women, hello. Big angry naked man lunging for you? Masculine and definitely not desperate for sex. Can someone say expert testimony?

Yale frat boys “bitch slapped”

18 May

Bad news for frat boys with no judgment skills! Elitist asshole university Yale announced it is punishing the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity and its moron pledge chanters of “No means yes! And yes means anal!” fame by suspending them from campus activities for five years. It was totally a joke, they said with a pouty face.

Doug Lanpher, executive director of international DKE office, said he was surprised and disappointed Yale made the announcement because he thought the negotiations were confidential.

“We know it was in poor taste,” Lanpher said of the incident. “We don’t advocate what they said. We believe that the chapter’s behavior has changed.”

Meh. Take one for the team, DKE. Sexual misconduct goes basically unpunished most of the time because so many cases are impossible to prove, so think of this as some of the crappy bad karma hanging over all of those other harassers’ falling onto your heads. Is that fair? Maybe not, since your own stupidity seems like a lot of punishment right there on its own. But then again, is it fair I have to weather a period every month and you don’t? No. Live with it.

It’s Denim Day

28 Apr

It’s wear-tight-jeans-so-you-don’t-get-raped day, which should be every day.

From Change.org:

If you wear tight jeans, it’s impossible to rape you.

At least, so declared an Italian Supreme Court Justice in the 1990s. And then the women of Italy descended on Parliament decked in denim, turning blue jeans into a powerful symbol not of casual Fridays, but of protest against institutionalized rape apologism.

Today is Denim Day. As part of Change.org’s Sexual Assault Action Week, we ask that you join ranks with the women of the world and pull on your favorite pair of blue jeans — because your clothes have something important to say about sexual violence on this day.

World pops 3D porno cherry over in Hong Kong

14 Apr

And yet, this article completely does not address the most fascinating part of this: can moviegoers wack off in the theater? Cause you know some of them will.

Movie-goers flocked to see what is billed as the world’s first 3D porn film as it opened to packed cinemas across Hong Kong on Thursday, with some screenings selling out completely.

Loosely based on a piece of classical Chinese erotic literature, the $3.2-million Cantonese-language movie “3-D Sex and Zen: Extreme Ecstasy” features orgies, swinging and some very graphic sex scenes.

Many in the crowd were women and were not shy about watching the movie.

“I’m not normally much of a movie-goer, but this one is just too good to miss,” 32-year-old Justin Lai told AFP as she waited at a cinema in Causeway Bay, one of the city’s busiest entertainment districts.

I would just hate to be one of the poor theater employees today.

Just FYI: Mexican women work the most

13 Apr

From Fox News Latino:

Mexicans — women in particular — work longer hours than anyone else in the developed world, according to a study by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

Counting paid and unpaid labor — domestic chores such as cooking and cleaning at home — Mexicans work 10 hours a day. (The average of all OECD countries is 8 hours a day.) Belgians, by contrast, work the least, 7 hours a day. The American work day clocks-in at 8 hours and 26 minutes.

Women do the bulk of the unpaid labor across all OECD countries, but the division of unpaid labor is most unequal in Mexico. There is a 4 hour and 21 minute per day difference between Mexican men and women. The average gap in the OECD is 2 hours and 28 minutes per day. The differential in the United States is considerably smaller, at 1 hour and 44 minutes per day. The smallest is in Denmark, where there is a 57 minute difference.

4 hours and 21 minutes per day, huh? Well, there is a lot of soccer that needs watching, and women don’t like soccer. It all works out.

Just FYI: Good news for horribly treated women in El Salvador

29 Mar

Holy shit, El Salvador. Took you long enough.

A groundbreaking law aimed at halting high levels of violence against women in El Salvador, the Central American country with the world’s highest rates for murder of women, recently was officially made public following approval five months ago by the overwhelming majority of members of the national legislative assembly.

The law punishes all forms of violence against women: from female murders (with 20-35 years of imprisonment for those convicted), to mocking, disparaging or isolation of women in their workplaces, communities or schools (with fines of between 2-25 times the national monthly minimum wage or through community work).

Less than six percent of the 477 women who were murdered between January and October 2010 resulted in convictions and of nearly 7,000 reported cases of sexual crimes, only 436 resulted in convictions between 2008 and 2009.
