Egyptians, Americans similarly weirded out by idea of lady politicians

8 Mar

So a Cairo protest for women’s equality on the occasion of International Women’s Day got out of hand when groups of men showed up to shout the women down. Lame, right? I wish death by dick cancer on all of them, but they deserve worse. The lady protesters came asking for an equal role in Egypt’s transition to democracy and perhaps even someday a woman president, very nice and reasonable. What’s the problem with women having some political power, come on?

Oh, right:

‘I support the women and am passing out flyers, but an Egyptian woman is more emotional that a European woman. The Egyptian woman can be a minister, but her emotions will overrun her if she is president,’ said Abdel-Fatah Arafa, a young lawyer.

They’re emotional. We knew that. Well, that’s not so extreme. Some truth in it. I mean, basically most Americans would even agree when it comes to their own women, like this one lady talking to a campaign reporter in 2008.

“Hillary Clinton should not be the next president of the United States. Women are emotional. They do not make good political leaders.”

We should get this lady and that Arafa guy together, probably they would be able to talk for hours together and have a lot in common.

If robot intense person bulldog Hillary cries, there is zero hope for Egyptian women to be able to hold it together. Remember how traumatic that was for the entire nation, worrying we would be ruled over by a lady in tears, in 2008?

“Male voters are basically going to see a hysterical woman,” said [Georgetown professor Diane] Owens. “Women are going to think that if Clinton is going to take on this responsible role and represent women in such a visible way she should do a better job of it and not expose the gender to this criticism.”

Proof, a woman with a tough brand who emits a single, debatable tear allows everyone everywhere to criticize women, period.
